The Future of SEO - in 2020

What to expect in 2020?

Technology is growing by leaps and bounds with every passing day, which makes it absolutely necessary for us to stay updated with the latest in the industry. With the advent of voice assistants like Siri and Google Assistant, we are nearing an era of screen-less searches. Simply put, the next four years of our searches will be through voice, so we will not really require a screen. This in turn leads to the prediction that the voice search will be on rise by 2020, which therefore, would make SEO a much harder task, as voice search will return an answer to the question, instead of providing links.

The future of SEO
Evidently, SEO has a bright future in the coming years. Search engines will continue indexing sites by using search to sort out information and sources of information, which will influence the organic rankings. Organic search will be mostly driven by social media. Tactics like article directories, forum signatures will lapse. Ranking for targeted key phrases will also become much difficult. An engaging content will make ranking on the basis of the strength of a key word easier.

Steps that Google will most likely take
Consumers will also look for app integration for a better experience. Google is currently focusing on making responsive apps and sites which will give a profound consumer experience; hence they are incorporating apps into their search results.
In 2012, Google launched Knowledge graph to provide specific answers to questions, pertaining to the local regions. This will, however, be challenging to businesses, as Google will be providing more specific answers instead of links to websites.

Tips to follow to help your business compete in 2020:
1.       Create specific content. Google strives to look for the best answer to your query. Currently, unlike Google Maps, Google’s Knowledge Graph does not answer questions related to local queries, but it is possible that by 2020, Knowledge Graph might start handling local queries.
2.       Ensure that you use conversational language and keywords. If your content speaks to the common man, then you are already a step ahead.
3.       Always make sure to SEO all the pages of your website. This will increase your chances of being shown in the organic search results.
